Scrub a contact by tagging it
Add a DialClear tag to a contact in your CRM to screen it right away, without leaving your CRM.
4 min read
Before you start
- DialClear installed in your CRM
- Money in the account's CRM wallet
Tip
Add the tag in a workflow action to screen contacts as they move through a pipeline.
You can ask DialClear to screen one contact without leaving your CRM. Add a tag to the contact, and DialClear runs the lookup and then removes the tag. This is useful when you want a fresh answer on a lead right now, or when the contact was created before you turned on automatic screening.
The tags
| Tag | What it runs |
|---|---|
dialclear |
All three below, in one go |
dc-phone |
Phone screening |
dc-trust |
Contact verification |
dc-location |
Address and location lookup |
DialClear adds these four tags to your account when you install it. Pick them from the tag list instead of typing them. Each one has a short description in your CRM's tag manager.
If a tag is typed by hand, DialClear still reads DC Phone, dc_phone and dc-phone as the same request, and removes whichever spelling is on the contact. Your CRM ignores capital letters, but it treats _ and - as different characters, so those are two different tags. Typing dc_phone adds a second tag to your tag list, and a workflow or filter that looks for dc-phone will not see it.
Tag a contact
Step 1. Open the contact
Open the contact in your CRM.
Step 2. Add the tag
Add one of the tags above in the contact's Tags field. You can add more than one. dialclear together with dc-phone still runs each lookup only once.
Step 3. Wait, then refresh
Wait a minute, then refresh the contact. The tag disappears on its own. That is how you know DialClear picked it up.
DialClear takes the tag off that one contact and nothing else. Your other tags stay, and the tag stays in your account's tag list for the next contact.
Where the results go
- Into the contact's
DialClear | ...custom fields. See See a contact's verification result in your CRM. - Into a note on the contact when the phone screen finds a match.
- Into your history on Lookups, where the row's source is
Webhook. Reading a lookup result explains each result.
A phone screen from a tag also applies your Automatic DND settings, the same way an automatic screen does.
What to know before you use it
Important
DialClear removes the tag as soon as it starts, so do not use these tags to mark contacts, build a smart list, or report on anything. The DialClear | ... fields on the contact are the record of the result.
A tag always runs. It overrides your Automatic scrubbing settings and any Only run when conditions on Settings, and it overrides the rule that stops the same contact from being screened twice in a day.
Every tag charges the account's CRM wallet at your normal price, exactly like Re-scrub now in your history. When the premium carrier identity match is turned on in Automatic scrubbing, a tag runs it and charges the premium price. The premium reassigned number check needs the date of consent or last contact, which a tag cannot carry, so a tag runs the standard phone screen. Use Re-scrub now with a date, or a single lookup on Lookups, for that check. Tagging a contact five times charges five lookups. The dialclear tag runs three lookups and charges for each.
Taking a tag off a contact yourself runs nothing. Only a tag DialClear finds on the contact starts a lookup.
If your account uses Shield and the number is on your agency suppression list, a dc-phone or dialclear tag skips the phone screen. The tag is still removed.
Troubleshooting
The tag is still there after a few minutes
When many contacts are tagged at once, DialClear works through them at a steady pace so your CRM is never overloaded, so a large batch can take a while. Otherwise, DialClear could not reach your CRM, or screening is switched off for the whole account. Tags ignore the switches on Settings, so those are not the cause. Open Lookups in DialClear. If a banner at the top says your service has been canceled, email support@dialclear.co to reactivate it. If there is no banner, remove the tag, add it again, and wait a minute.
The tag disappeared but no results appeared
The contact is missing what the lookup needs. Phone screening needs a phone number. Contact verification needs a phone number and a name. The address lookup needs at least a state or a ZIP code. Fill in the field and tag the contact again.
The CRM wallet may also be empty. Add funds in your CRM, then tag the contact again.
I tagged a contact twice in a row
A second tag added within about 30 seconds of the first waits its turn. DialClear runs it on its own about half a minute later, as a separate lookup.
